相见时难别亦难   Time was long before I met her, but is longer since we parted,
东风无力百花残   And the east wind has arisen and a hundred flowers are gone,
春蚕到死丝方尽   And the silk-worms of spring will weave until they die
蜡炬成灰泪始乾   And every night the candles will weep their wicks away.
晓镜但愁云鬓改   Mornings in her mirror she sees her hair-cloud changing,
夜吟应觉月光寒   Yet she dares the chill of moonlight with her evening song.
蓬莱此去无多路  …It is not so very far to her Enchanted Mountain
青鸟殷勤为探看    O blue-birds, be listening!-Bring me what she says!

海上生明月   The moon, grown full now over the sea,
天涯共此时   Brightening the whole of heaven,
情人怨遥夜   Brings to separated hearts
竟夕起相思   The long thoughtfulness of night….
灭烛怜光满   It is no darker though I blow out my candle.
披衣觉露滋   It is no warmer though I put on my coat.
不堪盈手赠   So I leave my message with the moon
还寝梦佳期   And turn to my bed, hoping for dreams.
